Kwame Nkrumah on cover of Time Magazine (1953)
In 1952, Nkrumah (1909-1972) won elections to become the Gold Coast’s first Prime Minister. Five years later, he led the colony (now renamed Ghana) out of the British Empire. Ghana thus became the first colony in Africa to free itself from European rule. An authoritative voice for pan-Africanism, he had great ambitions concerning Ghana’s future, seeking to foster industrial development through a socialist model. Although the military overthrew him, and the western media characterized his final days of leadership as dictatorial, he is widely loved by Ghanaians - drawing many to believe that his ousting was orchestrated by western countries, like Great Britain and the United States.

  15. What Is Success?

What does it mean? How do you achieve it? To whose standards is it measured?

I think success is what YOU make it. I believe in a 3-Letter Acronym: VGA. Visualize. Grind. Actualize.  You have to see yourself doing whatever it is you want to do, in other words, VISUALIZE. There’s nothing wrong with dreaming, as long as you wake up and work towards making it a reality! That leads me to the next word, GRIND. You can’t sit around and dream all day, you have to work towards your dream, or goal. Once you have worked towards your goal, make it happen! ACTUALIZE it.

I think there are too many people out here who “want to be successful” & “want to be great” but they never  know what exactly it is what they want to do, they just want the money associated with being ‘successful’ and rich.  That’s a setup for failure.

Success is only achieved if it is measured to YOUR standards, not everyone else’s. If you want to be the best lawyer, go for it! The best teacher? Go for it! The best Drug Dealer? You probably shouldn’t, but ALWAYS strive to be the BEST at what you do, always.
